Description

Jep, was one of 9 pups from our HRCH Mugz MH and HRCH Manna MH litter.  The buyer backed out at the last minute so I have been working with JEP twice a day for the last 5 weeks.  He is a retrieving machine already.  If he can even catch a glimpse of the fall, he can mark it, and retrieves it to hand.  He is super fast. He learns quickly.  He knows here and heels perfectly on the left and right.  He is crate trained and basically potty trained.  We own both parents. Both parent have OFA Certificates for Hips Elbows & Eyes and have been fully DNA Tested on the Labrador essentials panel by PawPrint Genetics. Both parents have their HRCH Finished titles as well as their AKC Master Hunter titles.  Manna earned her MH title across the span of just 16 Days.  That might be a new AKC record.

Jep already comes back with a full size bumper spins, sits & holds the bumper for minutes.  He is very laid back and does not demand a lot of attention.  He plays by himself for hours. I work with him at least twice a day.  All his littermates sold for $2500 at 7 weeks.  He is worth way more now than $2500 now, but I will take $2500 to approved homes.

Here is a short video clip of Jep at 10 weeks old.  Call for more details.  https://photos.app.goo.gl/jrA8JYriJAimnL6v7

đŸ¶ Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?
  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.
  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.
  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.
  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.

🧠 Final Thought

Buying a gun dog is your responsibility. Do your homework on both the breed and the breeder. Make sure your decision is informed, confident, and in the best interest of the dog.
